WinUtilities - Upgrade Policy

We release new version each two or three months. Version number looks like X.Y, where X is major version number and Y is minor version number. Updates are major and minor too. Minor update is when Y increases. For example update from 1.5 to 1.6 is a minor update. Major update is when X increases. Update from 5.0 to 6.0 is a major update.

Minor updates are free

Yes, if you purchase version 9.0, you will be able to update to 9.1, 9.2… etc for free. You may download the latest version with the same major number, install and use it. That's because minor update just adds some new features and new plug-ins. Nothing revolutionary, just new possibilities. And this costs nothing for existing user.

Major updates are not

We release new major version each one or two years, Major updates may require you to purchase the new license. And that's why: major update may be called the "new software". Releasing of major update means that we changed at least 90% of the software and added absolutely new features. So, as it's a new product, you need the new license. When a new major version available, you can upgrade your copy of WinUtilities to the latest version with a low cost (It's optional), or you can keep your registered version.
